meade916 Posted February 24, 2013 Report Share Posted February 24, 2013 found the problem. now im not positive but.... option 1: i didn't turn the gain all the way down from the privious setting before i touched the prob to the amp causing a spark when coming in contact with a conductor "the probe", and because of the high speaker output voltage going into the wire it melted / unsoldered. option 2: the wires on the dd-1 were already unsoldered and touching each other so when i completed the curcit by touch the speaker terminal it shorted and the probe sparked not the terminal. hmmmmm....although very unusual, we are not perfect and we would be happy to replace that. Please email me your address to [email protected] and i will get you a new harness out right away. Just out of curiosity...did you buy that new or used? I can see if someone pulled the wires too hard (not necessarily intentional) they could come off and cause them to short. It actually looks like it was yanked at some point. No big deal i got a new pair for you. This would be the first time i have seen this and its good because now we can keep our eye out for it in the future. meade916 Posted February 24, 2013 Report Share Posted February 24, 2013 i have actually tried to walk away with my own DD-1 while it was still clipped and it does give a little tug before it snaps off....not saying that is what happened but i can see how easily it can be done. The pic just doesn't look like a typical cold solder gone bad. It looks pulled. We are not above a cold solder joint, mistakes can happen, but it just doesn't look like that in the pic.
