My older Pioneer Hu ( Model in sig) , or Rockford Amps. I feel like i have sound quality issues( i know i dont have a true sound Quality setup), Like out of phase or something. Im using crossovers on both HU and amps and want to get rid of one or the other.. Any Input on the crossovers ? mothra Posted April 13, 2013 Report Posted April 13, 2013 which one will give you a better result? it depends on which one has a high DB slope. whenever I run into this I set the HU crossover as a cushion to what I set the crossover on the amp at. example if I set the LPF crossover on the amp to 80hz, I set the HU to 100hz. if nothing changes, nothing changes You don't know what you don't know, till you don't know

CoritaAlterado Posted April 14, 2013 Report Posted April 14, 2013 I prefer my HU's Crossover. It's more convenient, I don't have to be going to and from my amp. It tells me exactly what I'm setting it to, and it has a 24db/octave slope which makes it sound like the bass is up front.

The amplifers that I run have no settings on them what so ever ... just a gain control knob. Simple ... They amplify excatly what you put into them ... Most of that is aquired by time alignment (distance from your subs to your ears) ... The slope controls how steep the roll off is on anything above your crossover setting ... Just beacuse you have your LPF set to 70 htz doesnt mean it doesn't play anything higher than 70 htz ... The more slope you add to it, the more it cuts out above that desiginated frequiency ...
