mbdblue
last week, I closed out of a webpage on my laptop, couple seconds later, computer makes a click and shuts down. Of course this happens 3 days before my 3 year tech support is up. Tried the power button and the power light and battery light blink once. I tried plugging in the DC plug to see if the battery died, even though it was plugged in when it shut down, and nothing. Anybody got any ideas? Im not wild about giving it to a repair place besides sending it in to Dell themselves. But any input on what might have happened would be great. Also, anybody know if I could trade it in + some cash and get a different one? Im not in love with it or anything just an inconvience to have to go class everyday to use there comps. Neel
probably mainboard... check the ac adapter with a voltmeter just to rule that out. try taking out the battery, unplugging the ac adapter and then holding down the power button for a few seconds to try and get rid of any residual power. This sometimes will get laptop up... other then that, if its under warranty still ship it out. If its not under warranty i would just part it out on ebay and buy a new one. Slinky
say no to dell laptops i work with them at work all the time and they blow up like its cool theres nothing wrong with dell laptops. ive worked with a shitton of em and i personally own one and i have never had any problems at all. you just have to have some basic computer knowledge to keep any computer up and running smoothly and most people dont even have that Quote DD M4 Rockford Fosgate P500-4 SoundQubed HDC415 w carbon fiber cap 2 Rockford Fosagate T1675-S XS Power D3400 Under Hood XS Power D5100 in rear Michael Singer 200A Alt Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/153901-2012-veloster-update-842013-wall-build-4-15s/

Slinky
yeah i agree there not top of the line parts but i dont see em frying everyday. one thing i will say though is that i have an inspiron 1501 and the cooling on this thing sucks. if i run xp on here its fine, but this fucker runs hot with vista. the fan annoys the hell outta me but i dont care really cause i always have music playin. also i love vista and im not goin back to xp so ill just tone it out. ;P Edited February 14, 2008 by Slinky Quote DD M4 Rockford Fosgate P500-4 SoundQubed HDC415 w carbon fiber cap 2 Rockford Fosagate T1675-S XS Power D3400 Under Hood XS Power D5100 in rear Michael Singer 200A Alt Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/153901-2012-veloster-update-842013-wall-build-4-15s/
