RobertR Posted May 11, 2013 Report Posted May 11, 2013 So I get my new aero port box together and installed today. The one I have been bugging the shit out of you guys for help with for the last 2 months on here. I go for a drive to test it out a little and adjust my settings as much as I can with out a TL. I hook up my ipod and low and behold its purplesyrups mix that he sent me. I start slowly adjusting a few things since I switched from a slot port to an aero port and I dropped from 37 hz to 31 hz and added a little more power. And then I get brave..........POP!!!! 1/4 sec later.....another POP!!! And not just any old run of the mill pops. They are possibly the loudest thing I have ever heard in my life. Dizzy, ears ringing, nauseous cause Im racked with the fear that I really fucked something up. I immediately shut everything off. I smell a little coil but nothing serious. I get my head cleared and start to drive home to assess the damage. I go speak to the kind of person you go to when this happens. He pokes around a little but. And with a worried tone he starts to explain what happened and how much damage was done and how permanent it is. 2 partially ruptured ear drums. Damn. I am (for those of you who don't know me) a musician. I sing and play guitar. So my first question........is it permanent? He explains that its not severe but....... (and if I wasn't deaf at this point I swear I would have heard my asshole pucker up ) I should enjoy the pitch of the ringing in my ears because after my ear drums heal I will never be able to properly hear that note again. Let this be a lesson to all who read this. Protect your ears. P.S. Purplesyrup......not cool man. Not cool at all. lol BMW 325i Kenwood KVT-647DVD re xxx components re 6.5 FR's 2 RE XXX 12's 2 US amps MD3D's 2 batcap 4k's

OrionStang Posted May 11, 2013 Report Posted May 11, 2013 So a pair of SA-12s on an M1C popped your eardrums? Bullshit. SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
SnowDrifter Posted May 11, 2013 Report Posted May 11, 2013 If this busted your ear drums, I think you have some sort of underlying issue that needs to be looked at. Seriously. That would be like going to a rock concert and busting your ear drums. That really shouldn't happen. At all. Ever. ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
HatersGonnaHate Posted May 11, 2013 Report Posted May 11, 2013 I sing and play guitar too. I sit in 155+ Db vehicles weekly. Your eardrums are not ruptured or even partially ruptured. I do believe that you may have broken your cherry though. Congrats on not being a virgin and probably breaking the 140db mark. Tell your doc to put down the pipe before his next diagnosis. RobertR Posted May 11, 2013 Author Report Posted May 11, 2013 Yes I normally wear ear plugs when I compete. orionstang I've had a lot issues with my ears in the past. They dont drain properly, so if I dont take precautions to protect them bad things happen. Im not claiming that it is so loud it blew my ear drums.
