I'm pretty sure that tubing was just to gauge spacing, and is just showing how high the spacer he's wanting/going to order will be.

Or so that's how I understood it.

My $0.02

Making the spacer out of a metallic material, even one that's not too magnetic, isn't the best idea. There's a reason delrin/acetal and other plastics are used.

Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through.

Coils fine as long as its still round.

And why not get some 1/2"DIA/ ( how ever much tall spacer) made up rather then rig shit with those square tubes.

Can even use machine screw nuts ( ive done it.. ) It will also allow air to pass threw to cool coil. Yes, i realize the motor is open amd coil should cool OK from there..

Yeah, I'm no woofer builder, but that square tubing looks awfully rigged to me... Doesn't seem like it'd hold once it's actually moving and vibrating.

Lol Mtnbike had it right, that was only to gauge the spacing I wanted, so everyone get off the sack :D

it's about 3/4" higher up now so that will affect the choice between the extra 0.500" top plate and a cooling ring or just adding a 0.750" extra top plate ring by itself.

And even if I wanted to the tubing would work fine, could have just glued it to the top plate and the basket, and they're aluminum anyway, they wouldn't really have an effect since they're not in the changing field and they are not moving through the field. Otherwise it would add to the eddy current if it was part of the electromagnet or conductor.
