I read....and stuff. Typically subs that are softer on suspension are not friendly for 4th orders. You create a stiff suspension, you're better off for a typical ported application.

so I should just go ported either way? 4 or 10 spiders?

I know you know how dangerous those magnets can be, but there is a reason why manufacturers don't assemble charged neodymium motors. If you do decide to build your own motor be very very careful doing so. Like I said you already know that but it is fucking dangerous man.

Oh trust me, I know. I'm most worried about getting all the magnets in place on the steel plate, they're gonna be attracting each other like a MFer, and I need to get the all in the right spot, should be fun.......................

Lol what kind of steel though? I need to get the parts machined, and theres a bunch of steel grades. I'm not sure which is the most permeable when it comes to magnetic field. I'm not sure if I should do steel or iron, since iron is very magnetic, but all they have is ductile iron.....which I'm still unsure whether thats the exact same a cast-iron or not? Because cast iron is not super great at holding magnets. I thought ductile iron was just grey iron with a few added in elements, but I'm confused on exactly what it is.
