mmets Posted May 31, 2013 Report Posted May 31, 2013 Will be running a DC 175.4 to a couple focal K2 power components and a 5.0k to either 2 DC 15s or 2 FI SP4 15s. Waiting to hear back from mechman on an alternator but will run as big as I can in a Malibu, 2 XS power D3100 in the back and another XS power battery under the hood (whatever I can fit) Is this going to be enough or do I need another battery or two in the back? I don't go full tilt much unless I show someone what I have or the guy next to me is playing and I don't want to hear it. also using all 1/0 gauge wire, two runs to the back and the big 3 of course. never messed with much electrical when doing other systems and this will be the biggest one I have done in my car. just don't want to mess up the amps for not getting enough juice. Sergeant_Skyrim Posted May 31, 2013 Report Posted May 31, 2013 If it's of any comparison I had two BRZ2100.1's strapped at 2 ohms with one of the better Interstate batteries under the hood and an XP3000 in the back with 1 run of 1/0 from front -> back + the big 3 1/0 all around. Only saw drop from 14.9->14 full tilt tuned with DD1 edit: Singer 235a alt under the hood, and this drop was while driving so anywhere between 1k-2k rpms Build in progress

The reasons for running multiple batteries can include -Demoing with car off (alt not charging batts)...provides you with more battery reserve to demo longer -Less voltage drop...having a bigger reserve will stop your voltage from dipping depending on how much current you're pulling and I'm sure there are at least a few other reasons why people run multiple batteries. Like if you're running in a class that doesn't allow you to have the car on, etc Build in progress
