Thing you need to remember to not cutt whole to big for you don't ruin the cab strength..now if you can find somebody to design you a 6th order be way to go..

I have done blow through in my truck cutting whole very large just slide a ported box against bed sealed it up called it good it did work okay but cab flex issue was problem.that's why I said not cutt it big.

For sure. Listen to this guy. Damn truck choked me out on sunday

At what point does the port area get large enough that a blow thru is not considered a bandpass so i could build a normal ported enclosure???

So I am going to do a normal ported style blowthough with a whole 40"x16", but I am going to have a friend weld in some support. So it can be done a normal ported style, but a 4th order is more recommended. You dont want flex to start ripping the cab apart like the Orange Russian Sundown truck. Not sure how many boxes you have built (cjohnson547) ,but I think you'd have the most luck doing a 4th order first. And remember the smaller hole is easier to repair if you ever wanna sell the truck.

dolarbilz do you have a sketchup or build log of your design? do you follow strict ratios on sealed to ported? how many sq in of port per foot?

No sketch up or build log.sorry bud.I don't follow much rules on box design.I'm no box designer at all.lol.I seem to be doing okay that way.if you can get JoeX in here he could help you more..

Are you trying to stay in front of the wheel hump with this design.what if you just stay between wheel humps .go 49" wide instead.this will allow more room for box.one thing I don't like doing is restricting the woofers in any design.
