David its just really installed to play music for the family they don't pound. I have not checked the voltage with a meter just the in dash but it don't seem to drop at all.

If by meter in the dash you mean the stock one that came with the car, then you'll never see that thing move unless your voltage is really low and has been low for a solid minute.

If you set the gains by ear and you just started smelling them, then that means you have to turn the gain back down again, you've gone too far.

Thinking is the root of all problems...

You ALWAYS get what you pay for.

i would imagine voltage drop to 8 volts with that lol but definitely back the gain way off if your smelling coil like kirill007 said
