Broke_Audio_Addict
I saw true temptation tonight..... I have a 4 door 4x4 with 6 cylinders, but I don't think there's any way I could bring myself to trade it. You don't want it man its got too many doors and the wrong motor, you'd be stuck with it forever. If you can stand not having AC, lacking overdrive, and the general problems you'll run into finding parts for a 40 year old car, I say do it. LS swapping shit is so cheap now... 4.8l and a 4l60e is a CHEAP combo to throw in, lots of aftermarket parts to make it a near "bolt in" in a sense. Broke_Audio_Addict
Show me these cheap ls1 and Trans combo for sale cheap because I'll take two right now. That car is for sale at the top of what it's worth so why get it and sink $10k+ in it that you'll never have a chance of getting back? boom50cal
LS is the engine family man. 4.8 is the small truck motor, little brother to the 5.3. Anyone in the know, realizes how cheap 5.3's can be built into big power monsters $1200 pulled out ready to pick up, 117k miles...trans included. http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/ptd/4873787639.html That's a little steep, normally 4.8's go for $350ish, 5.3's going for $600ish, 6.0's going for $1000ish. Iron block's ftw. Edited February 27, 2015 by boom50cal Quote On 1/4/2013 at 9:31 PM, HatersGonnaHate said: Wow. 184 posts and I think you're a fucking asshole. Also 6.0Ls are plentiful. Its doable but the bullshit thing is thats not where the money is going to be sunk. Its going to be in stupid shit to make it fit. And you get annoyed and end up buying the 2-3K$ LS swap kit to just make it work. So your budget engine just cost you what a E-Rod kit is gonna go for. Classics are great but any car costs money to do right. Edited February 27, 2015 by aculous
Miguels
ls engine swap is 8k at minimum.. every part to make it fit a car cost a fortune. 1 Quote my logshttp://www.stevemead...-my-new-set-up/my blow through loghttp://www.stevemead...future-updates/ 96 ss http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/164094-96-impala-ss-build/
aculous
ls engine swap is 8k at minimum.. every part to make it fit a car cost a fortune. meh 8k$ is high but thats not far off. I think you would be 6k$ in the whole swap by the time you had the fuel, trans and fitted into the car. Theres a guy on pirate 4x4 that sells $2k LS motors with stand alone 2-wire harnesses that look really nice. But really I found out a long time ago that performance cars/bikes and Offroading is a rich mans game. Fuck that. (says the guy that spent 2k$ so far on his audio build....) Or do forced induction, although I would build the motor before I started throwing stuff at it anyway.
