That is the exact same setup, Audiopipe must make Pure Audio. Like MTX and Xtant.

1994 Mazda RX7 with LS1 Swap and 2 - 10" Kicker L7's in Truck Boxes (because of extremely limited hatch space)

2003 GMC Yukon XL with 3 - 12" MTX 9500's and still has the third row seat (over 7.5 cu ft of enclosures behind third row)

1971 Chevrolet Nova with LS1 Swap (work in progress, most likely 4 - 12" Alpine Type R's as I already have them)

1961 Chevrolet Corvette Restomod with LS7 Swap (system upgrade will be one of the first things that I'll do)

I didn't know this, but apparently a local shop is bringing in all these "Pure Audio" amps. Well... local as in New Orleans. And that's what they told me anyway. I just thought it was a budget line that they got ahold of and decided to carry.

Since they're local, a local guy is running a pair. He asked me to clamp them to see what they're actually doing. I had done a real quick test of one at Scrapin' the Coast so I had an idea, but I have pics and shit this time.

He's running (2) of them, but we just tested a single. Yes, they're mounted to the box. This is a temporary placement. I can assure this guy knows what he's doing.

I'm neither here nor there about the looks. They're clean, I guess. They're long and skinny which might get them into spots that other amps might not go. That's a plus.

Not strappable. Boo! You'll see why in a sec. Adjustable bass boost which is a nice feature if you can use it correctly and responsibly (he's not using it). Looks like the bass remote is proprietary since it's not a phone cord one.

Single 1/0 power and ground. And a single set of speaker terminals. I don't care for that, but it's not the first time I've seen it.

The amps were already set (not by me) and scoping them, they were set for a soft clip. That's fine since we dont' ride around listening to 0db tones all the time. They stayed at the soft clip under load. Didn't get better- didn't get worse.

He was already wired to 1 ohm nominal and I couldn't talk him into wiring one amp to .5 just to see. He also has a fancy schmancy carputer that he can like, talk to and shit so we could only play a 50hz tone (since he didn't have a damn CD player) to try to get different rises. So that's the quick and dirty part. We did several burps until I was satisfied with the numbers being consistant and relatively clean.

Results...

9B9FC682-68D0-4DB9-B675-B49019B6E866-492

70 acv & 22 aca for...

1,540w rising to 3.2ohms.

Not too shabby considering the price of these. And especially considering what he paid for them. You'll notice I don't have voltage drop listed. Well, I couldn't find my other meter to measure them all at the same time so I decided I'd rather clamp amperage draw for efficiency and just assume the drop is near 12-13v. Pretty standard.

That's also where you run into the "you get what you pay for" part. Measured efficiency at 1 ohm nominal rising to 3.2 ohms was a not so great 64%. So, it's making power. And clean. But it isn't exactly the most efficient amp I've tested.

Also... for those of you thinking that's it's just another rebadged AudioPipe (like I did), here's a side by side gut pic. It's pretty obvious why these aren't strappable. I'll let you guys make your own judgements of the boards.

Since the proof is in the TermLab pudding, we metered it too. He has a pair of TC9 based 12's in a subs and slot port back box tuned to 28hz in a Saturn Redline trunk car. Like I said... we only had 50hz. 146.6 @ 50hz. not too damn bad for a note that's probably pretty far off of his peak. And a daily.

I don't put images in my signature to let people know I mean business.
