Thank you everyone for the responses, appreciate it. Seems like 98%+ of people out there have no need to strap amps, also seems like other than a couple minute wiring reasons people would only strap because they simply *wanted* to. (minus having 2 amps, 1 coil)

Its a simplicity of tuning 1 amp vs 2 amps also. It's more than gain. You also have to worry about the filters.

I like this one. Deffenetly some good points going on here.

Some confusing, some make a little sense to me. But other than that a good read.

If it's worth building, it's worth over building.

Steve you have the tool to teat this theory with. Could you take a pair of identical amps and test one by itself and then the pair strapped and see what the power output is. In theory it should double given the same battery voltage. The way I am taking what ami is saying is that strapped the amps are more efficient and should make more power.

I don't think he is saying they are more efficient. They're each still at 1 ohm you also have to remember. But its more efficient on the COILS is what I think he means.

He never said they will make more power, but be different in HOW they make power. Unless I am misunderstanding his post.

Will AD1 tell ouput voltage and current peaks? that would be badass and put an end to this thread for sure.

Ohms law calc on my phone.

Just plugged random numbers in but here it goes

2500 watts @ 1 ohm = 50 amps

2500 watts @ 2 ohm = 35 amps

Less current means less heat.

except for 2500 watts @ 2ohm, on 2 strapped amps = 2 amps that are seeing 1 ohm. Not sure why you guys aren't grasping that important fact.

i would like to know how 2 amps, by themselves (non strapped), seeing 1 ohm each..... is different then 2 amps, strapped, seeing 1 ohm each. LOL - seriously. I think you might be confused, not me. Just because you showed 2 strapped amplifiers a 2 ohm load does not mean it is still a 2 ohm load (and therefore doing the SAME power, with less current). It is now a 1 ohm load, which makes it exactly the same as if they were by themselves.
