ncc74656 Posted August 6, 2013 Report Posted August 6, 2013 i have 2 batteries (group 31) and a 240A mechman alt. i just got my amps back today from repair and while driving (even on high way) the voltage drops. i got as low as 12.4 during most songs while at a high volume. lower volumes it performs much better than factory but im looking to stabilize my setup even at high volumes. i did some drive testing today and my RPM sits at 650 idle, 1100 on most road driving and 1600 at 55Mph. when i turn O/D off the voltage seems to stabilize a bit more but still not perfect. upgrade to a larger alt? add another battery? add a second alt? thoughts nothing, gutted

ncc74656 Posted August 6, 2013 Author Report Posted August 6, 2013 factory wiring was 0ga, alternator has 0 ground and power. i replaced all the factory 0ga with higher quality anyway. nothing, gutted

basshead8569 Posted August 6, 2013 Report Posted August 6, 2013 A bigger alt. I had a 220 on my focus. It still voltage dropped. Upgraded it to a 300 and problem was gone. Current system (still building) 2 kicker 12" dcvr in factory kicker ported box, Rockford Fosgate 1200.1 Amp, Kenwood ddx-470 ddin radio, Rockford Fosgate 0 Gauge wiring, Rockford Fosgate punch 6X8 2 way speakers.
k3n12ock Posted August 6, 2013 Report Posted August 6, 2013 I have the same issue as my xB is PCM controlled. I idle around 700rpm and I drop to low 12s, even while driving and playing full tilt.
