OBI Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 Whenever I get a demo from someone else, and they do very similar numbers as mine. I feel that their setups sound louder and make me react differently compared to mine, but they turn around and say the same about mine, feeling more brutal then theirs. Weird affect. Also usually it with similar cone and power too.
tacomaguy1 Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 Same here...someone elses setup always sounds better/louder I've always liked the way trunks sound, even small builds Team Flex Issues
Carbon Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 Interesting. I feel like this should be in the off topic section though.
OBI Posted August 13, 2013 Author Report Posted August 13, 2013 Same here...someone elses setup always sounds better/louder I've always liked the way trunks sound, even small builds I knew I couldn't be alone lol. But trunks do sound nice for some reason. They must have a similar affect to walled vehicles with ton's of cabin space left over. Because I love how those feel and sound
Kevin M Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 I think it's the newness. You are experiencing it but not really listening critically. When I had a wall I was use to it then I heard a buddys' hatchback and it felt painful. Same spl. There is a difference between a wall and an suv and a hatch that does over 150 too. 2005 Ford Focus zx4 AMT's and Planars 18" Infinite baffle
__d_a_v_i_d__ Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 Even with same Spl. They probably do it in different frequencies, that can be why. 40hz and above hurts while below 35 just feels brutal. Or can be like me, your use to your own and have higher expectations for your own system so you say and "think" is not as loud as others when I fact is the same or possibly even louder . But yeah, a 150 can be a different experience and sound different from car to car . Yea I pretty sure this is it. Im looking for more details when I first here a setup. Could be the same as when you first fire up a new setup and then it never feels the same after that. Even with same Spl. They probably do it in different frequencies, that can be why. 40hz and above hurts while below 35 just feels brutal. I remember last show I was at Roscoe was sitting in my car, and I was like "man I feel like my car isn't that loud anymore" and he just gives me a crazy look. lol
Tribe Called Bass Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 Sound tolerance, hence why A lot of people aren't content with their setup after a few months.
SnowDrifter Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 I thought the same thing too LOL I think it's just because you get used to your own setup ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
