I've always been overprotective when it comes to data.

My desktop currently has 3 1TB drives. 2 are in a RAID0 as my data drive (I have an SSD for boot) and I use the 3rd solely for backups. I also have a 2TB external that I back up to, just in case again.

All of my documents and files of extreme importance get backed up in Dropdbox and Google Drive, and depending on just how important they are, I have ~20 flash drives that have various backups as well.

I back my stuff up atleast 2 times a month. I have a portable 1 tb drive next to my rig, another that I keep in a fire safe, and another that I keep at a relatives house.

Yeah I need to start backing up my stuff more. Lost a bunch of music back in 2006 when the hard drive on my moms computer failed. Then with this Dell I got in 2009 the HDD failed in 2011 from me dropping it a few times, luckily it gave me a warning a week early that "imminent failure is near" lol so I was able to back up all my shit.

I'm gonna back it up either tonight or tomorrow and try for a weekly backup. I just wish there was a way to just simply back up the new stuff each week without trying to remember what it was or writing it down. I guess sorting the folder by Date is the easiest way

I have had several non-backedup drives and been totally f*ed because of it. A buddy of mine turned me on to RStudio its one hell of a recovery program. It takes pieces of whats not totally corrupt and puts em together. I bought one of those HD docks that accepts 2.5 or 3" drives and once i got my new HD up and running ran RStudio on the old one and it recoverded almost 200GB's of 1TB.. It wont save everything but it has got me out a bind. Now I use Skydrive to store important files its free and theres an app for mobile devices

Had my iMac since 09. Never crashed no back ups . Lol it is running slower though . So trying to clean that up. Might restore and delete all and sell it to get a newer iMac.

I am planning on getting an external HD tho
