bcpballer64
Is that just for looks or is it a performance thing? I like the way it looks! I think boom50cal said pipe haulers sometimes do that for clearance, I'm no authority on the subject though "The strongest reason for people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." -- (Thomas Jefferson)
boom50cal
it's makes for a smoother ride to an extent. a lot of the time flatbedders will do it so they can have overhang off the front of the deck, pipe haulers too. that much, its just for looks. and it looks badass. audiofanaticz
Its for clearance like others have said, for piping, steel beams, roof trussing, solar windmills etc.Things a normal semi cant carry because they would typically be too long and overhang off the back of the trailers so this way they can overhang in the front. boom50cal
idk if you guys have ever spent much time around oil field stuff, but 99% of the time, you'll see daycabs with 250" or longer wheelbases that pull belly dumps, end dumps, salt water tankers, blah blah. That's because lease roads and county roads are rough as fuck. A typical highway tractor with a sleeper is somewhere around 230-250" wheelbase. A tandem rear axle daycab city delivery rig will have like a 200-220" wheelbase, to get around better in tight traffic. Having a longer wheelbase creates a smoother ride by taking the load farther back away from both the driver and the steer axle. Idk how really to explain it, like a fulcrum? It's easier to explain if you've been around trucks. On 1/4/2013 at 9:31 PM, HatersGonnaHate said: Wow. 184 posts and I think you're a fucking asshole. boom50cal
This truck here is called Chapparitta. It pulls a frameless hydraulic end dump, hauls gravel and other construction materials all over the Houston area. I follow them on Facebook, clean ass rigs. my Mack CHU613 daycab I pull a bellydump with at work is a 240" wheelbase. A fairly nice even ground for county road work. We have full air suspension in the rear though, a little bit spoiled. I'd like another foot or so of wheelbase on it, but it's just right really. Small enough to maneuver in tight places and long enough to ride smooth. On 1/4/2013 at 9:31 PM, HatersGonnaHate said: Wow. 184 posts and I think you're a fucking asshole. REVOofRustler
Today was the Northwest Toy Run. Big charity event for Toys for Tots. Met up in the morning with some Audi peeps. Mine was almost definitely the slowest lol An F82 M3 met up with us at the premeet. Thing is gorgeous. He did a European delivery when he got it, so he picked it up in Germany and took it out on the Nurburgring before bringing it home. That's going on my bucket list if I get rich lol Stopped at a pub with some friends on the way home and it started dumping snow. I put my Blizzaks on as soon as I got home haha 2002 Dodge Dakota 4.7 club cab - Sold 2004 Audi S4 Avant - Fi and Crescendo - Stock Bose System - http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/147725-2002-dodge-dakota-end-of-the-road/?hl=%202002%20%20dakota 136.4 Sealed @ 29hz 137.0 Drivers window open @ 26hz
_paralyzed_
Remember "Pimp My Truck" and the chrome shop mafia? A friend of mine had his truck pimped. It had 4 Memphis 15"s. That isn't just paint on the hood, those stripes are molded in. It got to him with spinners for wheels too. For a while he had matching spinners on his reefer trailer. He sold her when some dirty c*** tried taking away custody of his girl and he had to lawyer up. RIP Roadhog.
