thats a old hp case huh?

Im also you cut the window in too? looks like you did a great job!

overclock.net is a GREAT site, im also a member there

Yup, used tin strips to cut out the window.:lol:

I'll be posting info and such over here soon, when I first posted this, I was a wee-bit tired. :P

EDIT: The side panel also looks "decent" from that picture, looking at it from other angles, it's bent to hell.

Copy and paste from the other forum I posted on...

Slow progress but will be completed. :)

Here's some pics of what I thought of in the past few minutes. (Been looking over some work logs here, thought I'd give it a try) (Maybe close to repo_man's HP case mod.... :o ) Sooo...... yea. (All images are clickable thumbnails as to not kill 56K, haha.)

Case:

Failed side panel window (tossing out, going to make a full plexiglass side panel  ):

Added an 80mm fan in front to cool the HDD (need to mod front of case now):

Plans!

Will be re-doing my Intel P4 socket 478 system (getting a new mobo soon) :D

Adding a partial mesh grill to the front (allow air to front fans)

Adding lights to the case

Make partial plexiglass side panel (some parts might be sheetmetal, whatever I find)

Add a side fan or two

Removing all HP labels from case

Fill in the gap on the bottom of the front of the case

Remove cover for the USB/FireWire/Audio ports on front, possibly do a little fibgerglassing

Mount a second HD somewhere :headscrat

Relocate USB/FireWire/Audio ports and power switch to top of case.

Teeny update, taped off the front of the case itself for cutting out the fan cut-outs. Question though. Should I leave 1/2" or so in between the two fans for bracing purposes or no?

(and of course, clickable thumbnails as to not kill 56K)

Also, wondering about the two front fans directly in front of the HD. Should I just do one at the bottom and it'll push the air up?

Pics....(clickable thumbnails)

(Sorry for the triple post too.......)

UPDATE:

Mounted a HD on top (kudos to repo_man) since I saw that from him. :)

Top view of case:

The red outline in my last pic represents an area I'm going to be cutting out since I have a feeling it's resting on the HD PCB.

(images are clickable thumbnails as not to kill 56K-ers)

Gonna be updating it more once I get my dremel fixed.

Thanks.

Well, I think I might throw in the towel on this build for a few reasons,

one is, I HATE working on mATX cases/boards,

and two, it just feels too "small" so I might just build a small file server in that case and have it constantly do folding@home and a home server. :)

Plus, I'm considering buying a refurbished Dell :o mainly so I won't have to build a computer  (too lazy) and it's under $200, plus I "might" be able to put in my Intel P4 w/HT 3GHz CPU and 1GB RAM into the Dell. :)
