HELP-New XS battery low battery volt

Recommended Posts

I would take that ground out and do a single proper ground to said strut tower. Requires removing one of the outside bolts and boring out the terminal... Sanding and retightening.

Good luck sir.

Here's the issue with self tapping screws on thin sheet metal

It pulls up the metal it's attached to, lifting up the terminal so you only get contact around the inner ring of your terminal. See below

Black = sheet metal

Gray = self tapping screw

Red = ring terminal

See what happens? Poor contact area, source of resistance and voltage drop. Ideally, you want to ground to something fairly thick, such as a strut tower or frame. But if you need to ground to sheet metal, you should put washers on top of the ring terminal, and on the opposide side of the sheet metal, that way the terminal and metal are sandwitched between the washers, ensuring(insuring? don't kill me grammar Nazis :) ) that there is no metal deformation and as much contact area as possible

Wow awesome thanks man! Well now i got a good game plan for tomorrow. Before i pull out my meter and start shooting im gonna start off my changing my ground. If its still inop then i'll take the readings and see if i notice anything out of the ordinary.

OP...

Do you see why I said what I said about snow in my earlier post.

Awesome guy, my personal "go to" guy when I have electrical questions.

So I haven't touched my car yet but I've been thinking.since my batteries are wired in series that would make my system a 24 volt system. My alt would see the front battery fully charged what if I added a voltage regulator so when either battery loses voltage it'll direct the charge to the respective battery. What do you guys think?

Woahwoahwoahwoahwoah

Unhook your back battery NOW. Do it IMMEDIATELY

Wire in parallel, not series.
