Cause more harm then good over time if higher then 14.4 over long periods of time. And yeah that will work for 4k power. You will see some drop, but not too bad. You don't really gain much by charging high, once you exceed the alternator's output, you'll drop to battery voltage anyway. XS doesn't recommend above 14.4 themselves. MECHMAN Posted January 18, 2014 Report Posted January 18, 2014 The XS power instruction sheets state a max charging voltage of 14.5 volts. It is not quite that simple though, the ambient temperature of the batteries and the amount of alternator current capacity makes a big difference. Cooler batteries with less alternator amperage can take a little bit more charging voltage before they swell. Hotter batteries, or situations where a lot of amperage could be pushed into each battery will want lower charging voltage to prevent swelling / gassing. 1-888-MECHMAN www.Mechman.com [email protected]
alaskanzx5 Posted January 19, 2014 Report Posted January 19, 2014 ^^ short term charge at lets say 300amp alt output and 14.8v for competition use should be safe though right? would only really need to charge that high for the 30 sec burp. t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.
