What are you using for mid-bass?

A pair of Linear Power 8 ohm 10" drivers in the kicks powered by a pair of LP2150 Amplifiers.

Dat LP :)

I have a zed audio 4ch with burr browns................... It purrrrrrrrsssssss!!!!!

I would love to hear one of these in a SQ vehicle, But nobody competes with them ... Wonder Why ??
I think a lot of that has to do with the Class D placebo effect. Whether something is present or not, people are going to hear something wrong. There was a blind test done a while back, I think on deema.
I am waiting patiently on a chance to demo these amplifiers in a "Sound Quality Atmosphere.

Thinking this year or next year after the interwebs one might start seeing more of these amplifiers out there in the competition realm ...

I'm not completely a SQ setup, certainly not on the level of competition anyway, but I'll let ya listen anytime. You swinging down to Heat Wave?

I'm swinging through San Antonio on Thursday... I would love to hear an SQ system, or at least really close to a true SQ system. I'm running Infinity Kappa 6.5 components and 6x9's rear deck fill off a Kenwood XR400-4. IMO, and many others who have listened to it, the amp/speaker combo I have sounds amazing. I've put videos up on YouTube showing off my SoundQubed HDS3 subs, and the only questions I ever get back are "what kind of tweeter, or what kind of mid/highs you running?" If OP was to get on Amazon, he could get my mid high setup for @500.00/give or take a few dollars.

Now, I want more "loud, but clear," so I bought a SoundQubed Q4-120 and a pair of AudioQue/SQ 4 way 6x9's and a set of SQ super tweets. Problem is, I don't know where I'm going to install all this!

For the OP, the Kenwood is a Class D amp, it's very small, but it's a power house for what it is. My speakers don't distort and they get loud as hell! Just make sure when you buy your components, make sure you will have your final wiring down to a 2ohm load. Gets you another 25RMS out of each channel. Hope this helps a little, as I know there are MANY better Sound Quality amps out there. I just don't feel like dropping 1500.00 on a mid/high amp... I'm a basshead and with 1500, I could buy one hell of a Class D Mono...

Ah man, no substage for me right now :(

The Exodus Anarchy's don't do horrible ran full range, but it's missing the bottom end. But I'd be game, wouldn't mind hearing yours either.

And I would advise against 2 ohm if we are talking SQ. Go 8 ohms if you can in fact :)

I always forget in SQ, you typically want to keep ohm load up, as it supposedly sounds better. Probably should never go with a Class D either. Class AB or maybe some other, but if he was on a budget and wanted loud and clear, I really like the setup I have. But, as I already mentioned, I'm a basshead, so anything probably sounds clear to me on the mid and high end! lol. THat's why I want to listen to a "true" SQ setup and hear for myself what it's really supposed to sound like. I'm going to hush now, cuz this is way out of my arena. Now, i sit back and hopefully learn a little something... Teach on people, I need to learn me something today!

My entire system is running at 4 ohms, but it's all Class D amplification. Clarion XC6610 6-channel x 2. Amplifiers don't all sound the same, but if you have a good full range Class D amplifier enjoy the higher efficiency and smaller footprint. I like more headroom rather than a characteristic sound.

Don't know what you ended up getting? but I've installed a couple of these, and I'd say there as good as one needs(for the money).

System. HU, Pioneer 80. Fronts, Morel Elates. Rear, Morel Ultimo 8 x2. Amps, Boston GT-42/GT-24.

They created a whole new amplifier class huh? SQ? And 1/0 AWG inputs? Seems to be a lot of marketing right there.

Seems like a decent active-capable amp with some power for the money, IF it tests decent. If.

Two installs I did with these were a Yaris and a F150. Both sounded real nice, both used Morel Virtus 6.5 and single EarthQuake Sub. Ran the amp three way. It played loud and stayed cool.

  • 1 month later...

what do you look for in amp guts, that says to you sq?

Really you can't tell weather it will be good or not by seeing if it has certain components.

It is so much more complicated than that.

Krakin's Home Dipole Project

Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist?

I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . .

What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself

but what has drawn your attention

in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums

An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space

Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears,

thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.
