The dumbest thing you've ever done while working on your vehicle?

Recommended Posts

couple years ago working on a Mazda truck i had. I was siphoning gas out of the tank so I could drop it, sucked a little to long and swallowed some gas. Didn't taste good, course it was latter on that same day I found a tool that would of worked better.

None of you guys can beat me on this.

I sprayed WD-40 on a driver side front brake rotor to stop it from squealing.

Obviously, i didn't realize what I had done until I hit the brakes and the truck made a right hand turn.

I'll have a go at it.

My freshmen year and first week my friend has his license, driving around in his old maxima, go to empty lot to try drifting, he hits a curb and slams into the concrete lip of a building behind it and bends the hood in the middle. To try and hide it I suggest flattening the hood, but it still had a peak where it folded, so I grabbed a towel and a hammer. Put the towel down, thinking it would protect it, gave it 8-10 powerful hits, removed towel and realized with all the little dents and divots it now looked like it rained golf balls on a 3"x"3 patch on the hood lol.

Fucking love Alan you goddamned fucking super nerd lol

When Alan uses big words I don't understand

It's warming up enough that the donut-punching cyclist douchenozzles are getting their two wheeled fagmobiles out.

Everytime I see a guy driving a mini cooper I cant help but think he loves cock & (2/29/16)-My wife just bitched at me about throwing out things we don't really use. My response of well we don't really use your vagina so should we throw that out was evidently not the right response. I had to leave the room.

I missed Alan.

RIP 5/29/15 - I love you son.

zapped myself when I put the negative on the frame, and it was accidentally connected to the positive amp terminal.

In my old lexus, I dropped 6 different hex lugs between the metal separating the trunk from cab trying to remove the old amp ground lug, they rattled around for weeks before assumingly falling out on the road? Never saw 'em again.

Drove my chevelle to big bear a month after I got it and almost got stuck because there wasn't enough air to feed the carb lol

duct taped my fuse-holder in the engine bay because I didn't want to drill into anything.

Didn't secure my box in the old lexus and did tail whips, smashed the box around and the RCAs broke off in the plugs, had to drill them out.

have to think about the rest there's plenty.

on a recent install, I flipped over two alpine amps that the guy had cuz his son had scratched the tops of them when they were under his seats. I pull the covers off, create a way to take the "on" light and run it to an LED strip that activated when the amp was on, but also glowed onto the circuit behind some plexi.

I am mounting his Addictive Version 2 12"s and left the box of screws on the top of the box, with the amps on the front of it facing towards the front of the truck (02 Sonoma ext cab). My buddies swing by cuz they heard I was workin on the noma', and want a demo... I forget the damn box of screws and had the front cover off, kinda showing off how I mounted them..... Bass Mekanik was in and that's all we needed to get the screws to rattle off and short both amps.

Luckily, I convinced him that the Alpine amps weren't worth re-purchasing. He got an Addictive 200.1 and we decided to leave the screws off. Of course I chipped in to cover the cost of the Alpines.

-Not my car, but was doing an oil change for a friend with a scissor jack, no stands (yes I had to learn the hard way)...lets just say I'm glad the wheels were still on.

-spent a week on and off trying to change the front brakes on my accord with pressed in rotors.....I didn't have a press.

-years ago attempted glassed door panels from scratch, applied duraglas, but ran out of time to finish sanding cuz I had to go back to college.....I came home and started sanding them again.

-sent an art series amp to Zed because it wasn't working.....he tested it and told me nothing was wrong. I got it back and realized the inline fuse my friend installed was barely screwed in.

Touching the rachet handle to the negative buss bar while tightening the positive one fucking sucked with 4 6500's. Sounded like a gunshot and took a chunk out of each bar, not to mention I about shit myself LOL.

I always electrical tape the handles on mine when playing with batteries. ;)
