IBleedMusick Posted January 24, 2014 Report Share Posted January 24, 2014 I've owned the 1000/1 and ran two of the 500/1 for 3 years. ive never been happier then when i sold them for my new Amp! yea they do retain value I'll give you that. but if they were as good as the price says they are why did i sell them? 2 years ago everything in my car was jl. there 0g wiring kit 2 500/1 v2s two w312s even there components front and rear stage on the 300/4. all that money wasted! i got half of it back selling it all but I'll never ever ever ever go back to anything they have. I've seen the light on the other side and it's beautiful! haha. and there w6 line! prolly the biggest waste of money on the market don't get me wrong there good amps but better can be had for less! a dc level 6 18 is the same price as a w7 12? come on! How will a dc level 6 do in SQ? Not even close to any of the subwoofers that JL offers. Output isn't what the engineers worked on. I get that it might not be worth it to you, or most people. But for some people this equipment will work and keep working for decades. Just because you don't know what the goal of JL is or any other "expensive" brand,doesn't mean it's not worth it to reach some goals. If you think JL is bad that's on the low end of the "SQ" spectrum if you look into a lot of the higher end SQ amps you will notice you play $1 or more per watt but you really do get what you pay for. I use to think how you're thinking now until I sat in a real SQ car and I almost shit my pants with how much I felt like I was sitting right there when the track was recorded live. Don't get me wrong, I love loud and always will so I will stick with my brands but when it comes down to it you can't compare brands catered to sound good next to brands catered to take an ass ton of power. If you know what you are doing i look at it like this say a guy wants to build a 1000hp race car start with a good platform say an american v8 he can do 1 of 3 things run N/A, turbo, or supercharger for this example lets just ignore the supercharger a S/Q build would be related to a N/A build yes it can be done time and time again but like you said you need to know what youre doing in order to keep from blowing things to bits on the other hand a SPL build would be like a turbo same 1000hp car just much easier to get the power... but still you need to know what youre doing or you might have rods going through your hood not an exact comparison but i think you get what im saying Btw that was the first person.
