hdorre
So originally, I could play down to 26ish hz with authority. Last week, I hear banging when I either play a low song, or turn up the subs. After some testing, I find that its box flex. I buy two 5/8" threaded rods, washers, and nuts. I mount them. Turn system back up, and noise quiets down a lot. Its till there. Turn around, and see the front of my baffle hopping. Put Spax #14 screws in to screw baffle into the box "wall".. and banging is gone. Now one problem.. I can really play under 30hz. It sounds like my subs unload. They move.. a lot.. but no lows. Im thinking that I have a leak where my baffle meets one of the enclosures walls. Could a leak rob me of my lows? Heres what Im thinking.. When the lower frequencies hit, more air in the box moves, and it moves more aggressively. Could the leak be acting as another port. If it does, wouldn't it raise the tuning when the possible ever so small gap is open? hdorre
I didn't lift up the baffle. I didnt want to potentially break the TB2 seal.. Or break it any more. timc31610
I would remove the screws you put in the baffle, pull the sub and inspect inside as well as you can. Pry the baffle up where it is loose and squeeze some glue in there and screw it back together. Sounds like you are still losing some air, a leak is essentially an uncontrolled port. Phew, thanks for verifying that. I plan on glassing ALL of the corners when it warms up.. So between the glass and 5/8" rods.. I should be set. Can I get any more opinions? Katt
I second post above. Fix all leaks. Leaks = unexpected higher tuning in a way, like those 2" cardboard ports for a 2 15 prefab box = wont play as low and unloads = no lowz or wet panties. no wet panties is no bueno. *06 330i - Sundern x12 - saz-3500* *91 Foxbody V1 S-Trim Notch*
