TzA Posted April 8, 2014 Author Report Posted April 8, 2014 I used Torres Calculator. Helped me mess with dimensions more easily. Here is what I have come up with: I will be cutting all wood rounded to nearest whole number, to match that of the Torres Cut Out Specs. Port: 8" x 25" port gives me 14.10in SQ/cubic foot. Total 50.24in SQ of port area. I think that should be big enough. Port is 8" away from the wall. Their are also 2 rods bracing. This is one of the only ways I could get an round port back and subs up. From what I was gathering, this is typically the better set up in an SUV, I was hoping to do subs up and port to the side. But am unsure how that would sound. How far away does the port need to be from the rear of my SUV? F O.
TzA Posted April 9, 2014 Author Report Posted April 9, 2014 Ok. I believe this is what I am going to build. ended up with 4" ports. Did not have enough clearance for the 8" port facing rear. What do you guys think? Any suggestions? Input? F O.

The lip of the flare is much wider then the diameter of the port itself. With the latest design, I think I am not going "aero port", but rather round port... using a router to round off any and all edges.. But, i was also speaking with Chris (owner of C2 audio) and his rule of thumb for aero ports is 1 4" port per 12" woofer... So if I do 2 4" ports, I can make them 'aero'... still in the gathering information and design mock-up stage.. Maybe just a single 6" port would be best.. not sure at this point. Joe X Posted April 10, 2014 Report Posted April 10, 2014 If those subs are really 32mm Xmax 1 6" on full excursion will not be enough or 2 4" for that matter, 3 4" ports flared on both ends would be the least reasonable amount and that around a 35Hz tuning.

Other than that I think you just need to have those subs sent to ya and build that box! Ya, I was thinking of building something around the ports on the external portion for added strength and to just look a tad better. I will try to figure out something that can assist on the internal portion of the port as well. thanks. going to start the build tomorrow. will try to post pics as I go, but i it will be a long process with the timing and it is getting quite hot out here in AZ. Krakin Posted April 12, 2014 Report Posted April 12, 2014 I don't know your level of woodworking skills, but one of the best bracing methods is shelf bracing. Where you cut a little grove all around the box where the bracing will fit to create a "shelf". This allows for the best connection and depending on the wellness of the bracing design, is tough to beat.
