Is this just a bass booster?

A guy I am installing a system for sent me this link and wants to put tinit his car and says it will double the output if the sub. It looks sketchy to me and looks like a glorified bass boost device. Anyone know what it is or if it's any good so I can let the guy know.

Most people that I've seen using em use em for less bass heavy music like old rock to get a little more out of it, wouldn't use it on electronic music, its already got bass.

If it audio control its not junk, IMO they have good products. Does it fit the application is the question. If hes running stock HU then maybe. A good HU let you control all signals well enough IMO. I have a LC7 i have used in a few builds before upgrading HU and i think it works very well. JUst my 2 cents, good luck

If he listen to (rock, Mexicans use it for Banda) a lot of music that doesn't have much bass then it might be worth testing it out

They tuned a epiceneter on soundman with a DD-1 any amount they turned the knob from all the way down it was instant distortion.

He is getting an aftermarket HU that can do all of the signal tuning and the sub tuning will be done on the amp itself and will be tuned with my DD-1. The reason he wants it is because he heard that it will double his SPL output. He listens to Decaf and hip-hop as well as dupsteb so no low bass music. The sub is a SA-15 on a Kenwood KAC-9106D (1000wrms) on stock alt and battery. I told him that theres no way to just hook something up and double the loudness without clipping the amp. Correct me if im wrong.

Im just trying to make sure that the guy wont blow his system once i put it in and wont spend money on things he does not need.

He doesn't need it since that stuff is already heavy on teh bass.

As said before, it's for music that is really light on bass, like rock.

He'll probably be that guy that won't be completely happy with it properly tuned and crank up the gain and boost.

The epicenter is a very outdated product, and is quite useless for a lot of people.

If his HU does what he needs for tuning then tell him to scrap the idea of using it. He is only going to get so loud off 1000 watts & one 12. Box size & tuning way more important than using a bass boost. Good luck on the build.

I love me some Audiocontrol products but all the products that have Accu-bass or some sort of Epicenter/bass restoration, I hate. As stated earlier it's instant clipping/distortion no matter what you do unless you have like a .5v pre-amp voltage at the head unit. I install Audiocontrol stuff all the time and I stay very far away from the LC7i and Epicenter.
