Kyblack76
Did mike tell you that? they do have internal and external ribs/flights you can put on the rotor shaft if its one that can be done to..... You can cut vents in the hood, ... theres a few crazy things you can do,... that said, im still shocked of the failure. ? Man, mine, after a 5 hour ride, and then a 7 hour, non stop show can get HOT, but, never once, have i even cared. evermaxx
Yes, he said I blew or shorted out the rectifier. EIther due to not enough batteries, or heat. But this problem was happening even before I had the system in. I guess demoing in the heat yesterday and runnin in the lanes killed it. Just took it out, and Mike got me 1day shipping to him. Bump4life
also could be voltage regulator. not much you can do about heat. were you internally or externally regulated? also demo with hood open. i have my hood open all the time at shows. audiofanaticz
Maybe try taking off the shroud over your radiator fan if you can, this way the air is being moved around the engine bay more instead of just the radiator. Just dont put your hand in the fan when its running. IMO an alternator should be built to take the heat, if its said to do XXX amount of amps when its HOT, it should do that amount of power all day long, with or without the batteries. If the true reason is because you dont have enough batteries, then all these bench tests of alts doing some high output number are useless because no batteries are used then. Granted a battery bank will take a bit of load off your alternators, but again that comes back to the alt should be able to do its rated hot amperage all day long. Now if it is the rectifier that went out maybe it was a defective unit. Im not sure what he is using for parts, and or if the rectifiers are coming per-assembled. Maybe he can upgrade the rectifier with some higher amperage diodes (unless the biggest is already being used), again not sure. Might also be possible to going to an externally regulated alt to get some more room in the back of the alternator for some better cooling to the rectifier. I know his alts are pretty rock solid so maybe it was just a fluke.
Kyblack76
nice ideas Man,..... i just dont get it. Ive gotten mine so hot the powdercoat could be smelled 10 cars over. You couldnt put your hand on it for 3 seconds.... All it did, was chug along that entire 7 hours, THEN, drive me and Laura home, .. it was only 101 that day.... Dunno man.... If it gets THAT hot under the hood.... shit..... you need to do something. Im lost.
