Gurpreet Singh Posted July 21, 2014 Report Posted July 21, 2014 I've read the topics on strapping amps where there is no gain in strapping other than more voltage, less current when strapping. I've got 2 SMD's which are 2 ohm DVC so I can only wire to 1 ohm individually. I'll be running 2 Shok 5K's so want to strap the amps, and then run them down to 0.5 per sub (0.25 per amp, right?). I ran 2 GZ 4k's strapped to 2 ohm before but box rise put 34hz at 6 ohms so I want to run these lower. Will this be safe? I like to play for a long time at or near full tilt but will install about 4 or 6 fans to help cooling. The amps have perspex backs on them with more than enough holes, and the amp rack is on a hinge so can open the hinge when bassing at a show
RooTxBeeR Posted July 21, 2014 Report Posted July 21, 2014 1) Are the stable at .5 ohm? 2) Are you willing to risk the warranty if they aren't stable at half home. Answer those. If you answered yes to #2 go for it. Gurpreet Singh Posted July 21, 2014 Author Report Posted July 21, 2014 They're stable at 1 ohm and have been run a lot at 0.5 and haven't had issues. Been speaking to the distributor for Shok UK and he said one hasn't messed up running at 0.5, and some people run lower. Warranty wise I should be covered for 0.5 as long as I can get my power supply up to a certain standard which will be done before the amps go in

Gurpreet Singh Posted July 21, 2014 Author Report Posted July 21, 2014 I'll double check but I'm sure he said 0.5 ohms strapped would be ok (as in 0.25 each)
tacomaguy1 Posted July 21, 2014 Report Posted July 21, 2014 .5 strapped, so .25 each is not ok Idk if they'd handle that. Might be ok for a burp but music they might not like it Now 1ohm strapped, .5 each would be safer Team Flex Issues
Gurpreet Singh Posted July 21, 2014 Author Report Posted July 21, 2014 My subs are dual 2 ohm so there's no way I can get to 1 ohm strapped, I can either go 0.5 or 2 strapped. May have to run them individually at 1 ohm due to huge box rise
Tecomah Posted July 21, 2014 Report Posted July 21, 2014 any reason you don't want to run an amp to each sub? 750??! Yeah, fuck that. Fuck this website, fuck SMD, fuck Steve, fuck all of his butt buddy mods, and their couches.^ DON'T BE A DICK LIKE THIS GUY Team Subsonic Lows
fecupe2001 Posted July 22, 2014 Report Posted July 22, 2014 strapping at .5 ohms is almost stupid IMO, i´ve done it only for burps, for music no way in hell!!
