Krakin
There's a reason it's a precious metal. lol Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . SnowDrifter
Permanent magnets are overrated... Gotta get those electromagnet motors ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444

Daboxxstl
I'll first build a small structure but then I will build a larger one if not two
gally
oh just get over it and by a SP4...or something similiar...for the money you would build a ˝costum˝ subwoofer you will get a way better Marketing brand subwoofer with less money spent 2010 Chevrolet Cruze Radio --- pioneer mvh-200vbt Front/back --- alpine type s 6.5" Sub Control --- Pac LC1 Sub Amp --- GZPA 1.4K Sub --- GZNW 15XSPL D1 Battery - GZBP 12.2500X
Daboxxstl
Only $20 on neo plus about 150 for cone, coil, spider. And plus the experience of machining the ENTIRE structure.
Broke_Audio_Addict
You cannot machine neo That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals. Krakin
And you can't Ferrite. If you plan on a custom Ferrite magnet, you are looking at around 3k for a mold. It's not too easy to find a magnet to fit and then make sure the magnetic fields will still be as expected. Just because a motor structure like similar to a well designed motor doesn't mean it will work at all. You have to think all the way up to how the bakery will affect the Flux and weather or not you can keep a linear system with the t-bone, top plate and coil. Then you have to start accounting for cone design, weight, spider resistance, and lead placement. Don't forget about induction in the circuit and combating it with a Faraday's Ring.
