Daboxxstl Posted August 6, 2014 Report Posted August 6, 2014 I'm wanting to be able to meter high 140s under 2k. My car is a 1991 honda civic hatch, I have a digital designs m1b. I'm wanting to go all digital designs. What subs should I choose, also what size box should I build
SnowDrifter Posted August 6, 2014 Report Posted August 6, 2014 Not so sure about doing it on 2k. At least not in a burp box. But high 40s with a pair of 12s is a reasonable enough goal ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
OrionStang Posted August 6, 2014 Report Posted August 6, 2014 If you want to play music, that score is gonna hard to get on that low power. You could build a fart box and MAYBE get there. SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
hispls Posted August 6, 2014 Report Posted August 6, 2014 Single 9515, or DD-Z if you have deep pockets. Use DD spec box as big as you can and you should pretty close. Bear in mind if your only goal is to play fartbox you'll want to wire down really low impedance for burps and tune a bit higher than DD box recommendations. Otherwise, IMO the DD box sounds fine for music with DD subs and just running the amp at nominal 1 ohm should give you fine results if you've built the box right. Search around for other Civic builds and see what works best for sub and port orientation as that makes a big difference.
slowfkncar Posted August 6, 2014 Report Posted August 6, 2014 Two 12" sub's,taking in a reccomended 1k clamped each, will get you pretty fucking close in an EF hatchback. Lucky you, this car can have retarded cabin gains.
Bump4life Posted August 6, 2014 Report Posted August 6, 2014 goodluck my friend. dd 9900 series dd zs or dd 9500s should get you there. Chris Braun Posted August 6, 2014 Report Posted August 6, 2014 Seal it TIGHT dude, that's the key if you're not going with more power. Taking the entire interior out, seal it tight front to back, major high end electrical job/batteries and it can be done with a properly designed box for that car. Find Hexibase on youtube/online, he designs boxes for exactly what car and sub etc you have for $50, and he's very intelligent and could probably make this happen.
Daboxxstl Posted August 7, 2014 Author Report Posted August 7, 2014 Thanks for all the help guys. Will be sure to let you know when I get loud lol

Coincidentally there is a big multi page thread on Hexibase (as known as PWK) going on right now. I have no opinion one way or the other on the guy but you might want to read that thread before you drop $50 on plans.
