joe x you still around?

Personally I have never seen a bad design from Joe X. Sure, he's handing out somewhat generic designs, but for FREE! May not be the best for chasing tenths on the meter, but they should always sound damn good for 90% of people asking for this kind of help! If someone is asking for this kind of help, I doubt they know or care about port efficiency!

Several systems, several vehicles. Always changing!

Audiofanaticz, just to follow up on your post....

I use multiple programs as well that I go back and forth with, as you apparently do too. Once I have my design figured out, I like to use cnc machining for my work if the customers schedule allows.

I use rhinoceros for my 3d modeling of the enclosure, then I got to smartcam to nest my parts, lay down my toolpath, and generate gcode. From there, if I'm cutting full sheets I'll throw it on the komo Mach 5, or for single parts like a logo in a baffle or more precise curvatures, I'll put the single piece in a haas vm2.

It's not much, but it is a more precise system than Torres, sketch up, and a skilsaw. It's nice having a 25,000 square foot shop and millions of dollars worth of equipment at your disposal.

For the dimensions given by the OP and the 16mm Xmax of the proposed 15" subs, I don't see anything wrong with the amount of port area. Most designs could always benefit from a little more, but 56 sqin per sub should work.

But maybe that's why I don't bother helping with box designs anymore.

Current system:

1997 Blazer - (4) Customer Fi NEO subs with (8) American Bass Elite 2800.1s

Previous systems:

2000 Suburban - (4) BTL 15's and (4) IA 40.1's = 157.7 dB at 37 Hz.

1992 Astro Van - (6) BTL 15's and (6) IA 40.1's = 159.7 dB at 43 Hz.

I envy you for having such nice CNCs at your disposal! HAAS is nice and high dollar stuff, not too familiar with KOMO stuff but did work on some of their vintage stuff and fix minor issues with my old job that I walked out on. lol Did a bunch of used woodworking machinery maintenance on the used machines for sale, crating them up for shipping as well as install KB ducting. It was fun but the bias of the family ran business just sucked.

Id love to have even an older used Altendorf F45 or something along the lines of a sliding table saw, and a shopbot.

But im very tight on room currently, but one day!!! lol

I've offered to do real world testing from multiple designers including Joe X. He never came through, I feel that might have something to do with actual recorded results against other designers. Free designers and paid designers....and I had no luck

Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?

just messed with it a little.
using tsp's as a starting point and shrinking volume slowly.
going after a semi-flat response with over powering the woofers and about 67ish square inches of port.
keeping port velocity and db ripple in check takes much more time however.

But my time is worth something, and I cant use a sketch program for the life of me so chances of a person assembling the layers correctly are most likely not happening which is why I dont do design work. I just need me a ruff sketch of the shape and right down the cut list, and can figure out how I need it to go together.

Edit: forgot to mention at its current larger size its pretty much FLAT down to about 24 hz....
