knowledge
both really get down, the p3's didn't handle the same power the alpines did though. REFF'SMy linkEBAYhttp://feedback.ebay...ck&myworld=trueI love car audio so much because I will never be done. I can never win, and I will never get it finished or perfect. It always has me coming back for more, I can never get my fill of it, but I get what I need.
Joe X
The new Type Rs handle 1K and work in somewhat smaller boxes. Would be meaningless to tell you which is better but you see people around here using them both.
SQL50
Flip a coin, there both decent subs at that price point.
Jeff4661
Imo I would choose the p3 just Bcs I am not a huge fan of the type r surroundstructure (with all those ribbes) if you listen to one they sound like there ribs are rattling together.. maybe its just me.. but I prefer a conventional surround style.. Take it for what u will there both good subs.. alaskanzx5
Really they're just about on the same level. The type r can handle a little more power for sure. So with the ability to run more power with the same cone area I would go that route. t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz. SQL50
With the option of more spl in the correct install/more power, alpine type r.. I've heard both, they produce different types of bass, in my opinion the Rockford p3 is punchier, and cleaner sounding, while maintaining low end response simultaneously, and can still have good output if installed correctly, not a garbage sub at all like a lot of people claim.. the type r seems like it sounds boomier, yet louder, but the sq still isn't that bad but not equal to the p3.. yet this is install dependent but that's with my personal experience.. Either sub is going to yield decent results within that price range, it's whatever you want out of your system..
alaskanzx5
^ a punch subwoofer sounding punchy?
