mothra Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 its a headunit from '00, its 15 years old. get rid of it, seriously if nothing changes, nothing changes You don't know what you don't know, till you don't know
d-nice88 Posted February 6, 2015 Author Report Posted February 6, 2015 Yea well I seriously dont want to buy a hu for a car that my wife will sell one day I would just rather buy everything else like subs and amp n box plus wiring and take that out without having to deal with taking the new hu out then put the old back in when I can just wait till she gets a car shes gona keep for a while and get her a single or double din when the time comes
RyanJ Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 How long is "one day" when you state she will sell it one day? If it is longer than a year, why not put a head unit in? It's a little bit extra work but it's just as if you are replacing a headunit in any car. Pop out a few things with a flathead or something of that sort, Unscrew, pop out a few more things, replace, pop back in, than re-screw. Plus, there are plenty of dash kits for a 2000 avalon (I think.... ) where you can simply keep the stock dash somewhere in your house or trunk and still be able to add an aftermarket headunit. When you want to sell, just simply reinstall the stock headunit dash. Personally, I wouldn't put my time and money into a system starting from scratch if I'm not going to buy a new headunit. Honestly, the HEADUNIT would most likely be my first purchase next to some mids / highs. Ill probably only add new mids / highs if I was going to use a stock HU. But aye, why listen to me, right? haha. I'm just that dude with 1 15.Quick tutorial how to remove stock HU which took 8 mins: Cheap but will still work aftermark dash for an aftermarket single din:http://www.amazon.com/Metra-99-8211-Single-Installation-2000-2004/dp/B000EBWNLE/ref=au_as_r?ie=UTF8&Make=Toyota|76&Model=Avalon|1010&Year=2000|2000&n=1077068&newVehicle=1&s=car&vehicleId=1&vehicleType=automotive But like I said, I'm just a dude with a single 15 haha, I'm no where near knowledgeable as 75% of the guys on here. hondakid1996 Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 Just run a PAC line out converter off of one of the rear 6x9's. You may be able to run it off the factory sub, but PAC converters are only good for something like 50 watts of input so if the amp puts out more than that it might mess up the LOC. Either way they're only about 25 bucks and will work just fine for your application.
never knows best Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 heres a list of some of the line output converters- http://www.crutchfield.com/S-diwCuz6rfkw/g_318850/Factory-System-Integration.html and I personally would keep the factory radio with that style dash... those cheap plastic dash kits with the stupid cubby hole look like shit-
RainStryke Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 Doesn't that model all ready have a stock 8" JBL subwoofer?
