Precision Power P65c3

Currently I have the 6 from 63 - 180, 3 from 160 - 8k and tw from 8k up. Running an Alpine H800. I would have to go back and check my slope settings. The 6 doesn't need to be on axis. The 3 and tw should aim to a center point in the back of the cabin. Keep both at the same plane height and depth wise. It's something I still need to change on mine. The tw is in the wrong spot and angle. You won't need much on the tweeter at all, so be prepared to cut its level. They are very efficient. I don't recommend going active unless you are really willing to spend the time setting up and tuning. Running fully active amps won't get you where you want to be. Currently my truck is only set with xover points, slopes and TL. I haven't even touched the EQ part yet..... Yes they are that good.

not many cars can get me to pluggin my ears but this one.......damn. I mean the first minute is ok but that thing just really starts digging deeper and deeper in your earhole till you cant stand it no more. Seems like it does it with relative ease....16 12's on 8 amps.........gotta love it. :)

king, any idea what the factory tweeter crossover point is in the passive?

To speak to hoit's original question of 3" in the door and tweeter in the pillar vs. both up top--generally the lower the crossover point, the better the blend between speakers that are further apart. 3.5k seems to be commonplace in many two way sets nowadays. If the PPIs cross closer to 8k I'd do what I could to keep the 3" and tweeter as close together as possible. Actually if I had the room I'd do that anyway.

Static drops are my bag.

Honestly, I've never tested the xovers on the set. Not sure where they put the points at. I will say with the passive, the tweeter is better suited in a louder setup where you are bass heavy. Not that it's a bad thing, but SQ competition level, it might be too bright. I haven't had a set yet that haven't sounded better then expected in an install

In all reality, the whole setup would do very well in an off axis. Setup placement all depends on what you are trying to achieve. If you want a great sound and have no plans to go full retard in SQ, then you are just fine placing where they fit.

interesting....... how do you actually go about testing a crossover to find the crossover points ect?

Simple way would be to run the setup by speaker with a rta.

LOL...I don't plan on going full 'tard at all! From what I'm gathering here, it would be best to mount both the AMT and 3'' mid in the A-pillar slightly angled toward the back glass. This is

going in a Chevy Aveo sedan. King...that Alpine H800 looks really nice...maybe I'll get to your level one day! (maybe!) Passive will definitely be the way I'm going as of now. I'm looking at

running these bad boys at around 100 watts rms. What kind of power are you giving these King? They should compliment the sub stage dramatically! (2 Sundown X10s in a sealed off trunk at around 2100 watts rms) Too bad no one around my neck of the woods has some that I could listen too! Perhaps I can do a little research and contact PPI to see exactly where the

crossover points are, as I do not have access to a RTA.

Thanks so much for the input guys!

100w per is fine. They can take more if you upgrade later. The amount of power I run to them isn't recommended . Currently I have all Soundstream Reference powering the soundstage. The 3 and tw on a 4.920. The 6's are on the 2.640 and I have the Ref 8's in the front doors running on a 1.500 each for the sub stage.

Again, I don't recommend the power levels I run to them. Processing is EVERYTHING to have these guys handle the amount of power they do.
