I have only one RCA connecting to the amp which Im going to fix... I have had a broken RCA for a while now. I scoped the one I have connected and its a clean signal... even if its only 1.5 volts.

Its been like that for a while now.... Maybe it is screwing with the amp.

wire lower

done

wire to .35 or what ever...

Lol man I only have one sub I cant wire to .35. I get the point about how they should read lower which I figured is usually the case... but they still read 2.3-2.4.

how are you wired at one ohm if you have dual 2.4 coils ?

Do they make dual 2.4's ?

im a lil lost?

"Checked coils on sub (read 2.4ohm each)"

It reads more like 1.3 ohm at the terminals. i said 1 ohm earlier i meant 1.3...

They are dual 2 ohm subs with a DCR of 2.4 I should have been more specific

weird...

to me, a dual 2 would read 1.4 dcr per coil...........

dual one would read .7 per coil....

DCR should read LOWER .. not higher

That is only with Fi, Crossfire, AA etc. type subs mainly. DC, Sundown, blah blah blah, and so on all read right at or .1-.2 over.

I understand Thomas.

But, how is he seeing a 2.4 coil on this sundown sub?

So if it is a dual 2, and hes wired at 1 ohm... why would his voltage drop ?

Ill bet with his mayhem, he was making more power... ill bet it was a was a dual one,... at .7 dcr, and he was acutally at .35dcr

know what i mean?

I understand completely.... and who is thomas... lol.

OP, I would check RCA connection to make sure they are tight. Im my truck, along with other teammates have seen similar stuff with no power output and ended up being a loose RCA.

my bad... wrong name.... lol

also,... the voltage at 32v seems odd to.... i agree

lol, it is Travis.

Where are you reading voltage from? What's your AC voltage on the output of your amp if you play a 40hz tone full volume?

I didnt get numbers for the AC output but I can tomorrow. I didnt see anything out of the ordinary when I checked earlier however.

Need solid numbers to work with. Voltage at the amp being DMM on the set screws at the amp for your power wire

For the AC voltage output I get 32 volts at full tilt on a 30 hz test tone.... which seems low.

What amp? By that math the gain is set to put out in the 1000w neighborhood. Might need to turn your gain up more

Sundown 2000d. I'll try turning up the gain a bit... it's at like 4/9 right now so right under half.

You have an oscope right? Crank that sucker. There's a link in my sig to some test tones you can use too. Try the -7.5 or -5db 40hz track. -5db will be safer, but you aren't running that much power to the mayhem so if you are adventurous, try the -7.5 track ;)

at this point I think it's more of an amp/Rca issue possibly.

My bad! Even still, my statement regarding power and tones still applies :)
