Smoove Posted March 28, 2015 Report Posted March 28, 2015 We fuse for amps like crazy. How do we fuse for voltage? example . voltage regulator goes out ans starts delivering 18v to a 12v system. Seeing optima batteries blowing bubbles is cool, but I'd prefer not to see it. 2 Team Fi 15's v1 2 DD M5's 970amps of Alt 6th order blowthroughThe truck Blowthrough build : http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/155555-smooves-1996-chevy-ext-cab-c1500-slow-build/The 350z build : http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/170694-smooves-2003-nissan-350z/ My FB page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Smooves-Car-Audio-and-performance/719746144805343 Team Fi Audio http://www.ficaraudio.com/

SoCaLBaMF Posted March 28, 2015 Report Posted March 28, 2015 Wouldnt really be a fuse, but more of a switch. Basically the same thing as whats in amps for "over voltage" protection. 2004 Bagged Trailblazer (4)18" Sundown Nsv3s (4) Taramps HD10000s, Taramps DSP3000, Lanzar opti 250x2, AB 100x4 (2)DC power SP 270s, (14)XS Power d3100s, (1)d6500
Smoove Posted March 28, 2015 Author Report Posted March 28, 2015 Well how are these switches made? Or what is a good one to buy? I'd prefer not to fry stuff if a regulator goes out. 2 Team Fi 15's v1 2 DD M5's 970amps of Alt 6th order blowthroughThe truck Blowthrough build : http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/155555-smooves-1996-chevy-ext-cab-c1500-slow-build/The 350z build : http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/170694-smooves-2003-nissan-350z/ My FB page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Smooves-Car-Audio-and-performance/719746144805343 Team Fi Audio http://www.ficaraudio.com/
Broke_Audio_Addict Posted March 28, 2015 Report Posted March 28, 2015 You would want a thyristor protection circuit. Works like a surge protector in your house. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.

Broke_Audio_Addict Posted March 28, 2015 Report Posted March 28, 2015 I've worked on cars for years and seen a bunch of failed alts and never once have I seen one take out the electrical system with it. I'm sure it happens but I've never seen it.
