Can you mix agm and lead cell

This challenger in doing a build on. The guy wants to run his stock lead cell in parallel with his xp3000. I said to wait until we have a agm to replace stock, because they will drain each other and eventually he would have a paper weight. Any insight, he don't believe me.

All it will do is reduce the life of the batteries... Battery should have an expected life of 7 years unless abused so instead of 7 years you might get only 4 or 5 years maybe less with it paired with a lead Batt...

Dunno where on here I read it but I think you can run a battery isolator between the two to keep them from hurting each other.

I'm aware of isolators. The issue is, we don't want to spend anymore money. So he doesn't want an isolator, but I'm suggesting a replacement for stock battery.

tell him you're right (agm/lead acid drain) and to stop being a cheap ass.

just hook them up. i doubt the length he has them, nothing noticeable will happen.

you wont blow the amps, or hurth anything. it will reduce the life of the battery with the higher resting voltage. and actually help the battery with the lower resting voltage.

Well lower resting batt is probably no more than $200, whereas the reserve is worth over double that.
