focused313 Posted June 6, 2015 Report Posted June 6, 2015 I have a 1985 Monte Carlo SS and I'm very interested in putting 1 10" subwoofer in the trunk. The main reason is because I'm getting tired of hearing local people scream and holler about the diameter of a subwoofer (just like tv's), not realizing that enclosure, electrical, and the specs of the sub mean more (if the model isn't the same). My budget for the sub is around $300 and I'll be having the box built by a design from a builder on the forums. I'm considering getting the HDC 3.0 10" from soundqubed (I'm open to suggestions) and pairing it with my old Hifonics2008D with is rated at 2k rms but I know I won't see that. I have a 200a alternator, optima red top, and big 3. The trunk will be sound deadened. I'd like to keep the enclosure as small as possible while giving it all the airspace it needs to get as loud as it can be. I know that "loud" is relative, so let's say, would you be able to hear that bass from 1,000 ft away (a city block)? Learning Everyday. Depends on your goals. I have 2 HDS3 10's on a T1500 @ 1 ohm and close to 2k in a subs & port facing forward enclosure. Facing into the cab from the trunk and the subs could easily take more power. Subs sound good, so depends on your goals.

focused313 Posted June 8, 2015 Author Report Posted June 8, 2015 I don't really want a big box. The Monte Carlo has a "shelf" in the trunk and I'd like to keep the front of the box flush with the opening in the trunk like this... I'll go back and measure the space I want to stay in though.
