_paralyzed_ Posted June 19, 2015 Report Share Posted June 19, 2015 I'm getting .49Mbps download speed. I'm paying for 3Mbps. Until about a month ago I did consistently get 3Mbps. I called comcast and they claim the slow speed is due to an old modem, of course after trying to sell me more shit I don't need. It makes no sense to me. Could a modem that used to pass 3Mbps no problem "get weak" and suddenly only pass .49Mbps?It sounds like complete bullshit to me. They either work or they don't right?I'm so pissed off right now. I would set up a service call. Water /ingress signals getting in your lines will cause havoc with data transmission. I use to make repairs like this on a daily basis. I'd bet they need to come out and replace a line. Bass head in training. I keep switching between the two that are offered near me. when my contract ends every 2 years the service turns to shit, coincident? I don't think so. I was doing a online college class a year or so ago, had to turn my final in at X week. Apparently our service was causing a disturbance to the whole local system or just the houses around me. Without any mention they came in and disconnected us and didn't say shit for a few days. We had to pressure them just to figure out why our service was off. Needless to say I was able to finish that final. So just leave them and be done with it. My last AT&T one had to be replaced because it went faulty and started getting shitty. We paid for 20mb/s but would get around 10 at non traffic hours.
