MrGrey13
Its been a busy month for me! First, I went to Colorado with my brother to ride snowmobiles with Chris Burandt, the best backcountry snowmobiler in the world! Then, a few days later I drove to Las Vegas for Stancewars! Now im broke... But here is some progress! Ran the sensor for the LED controller. I placed the IR sensor in the rear deck so I can control the LED's from inside or out. Some shots of the CT Sounds Strato 6.5" speakers. They look small because of my massive hands. Stock setup. I love VW because the door is completely separated from the factory and the car itself is already sound deadened better than most cars. I know many of you will complain about the crossover being in the door! I would not normally do this but with the inner and outer door being separate and sealed im not worried about moisture ruining it. AND I want to go full active with a 3 way setup in the future when I magically have more money... Durango build log
MrGrey13
Front doors were about the same process, no need to show every step again. What I did do differently is modify the sail panels so I can place the tweeters. (Stock) I actually took some time aiming both sides with the front and back playing. The front is slightly off axis pointing down because the back doors have the tweeter locations high in the doors. It was just too bright having them aimed up. They will be wrapped in vinyl that matches the dash and door when that arrives. That concludes the door speaker/deadener install. It sounds great but I need to get my EQ installed and find a processor! the head unit doesn't put out the best sound as far as quality or adjustment... MrGrey13
I carpeted the spare tire well next to clean it up. Worked on the front trim piece, I have a pretty cool idea for this! (some of the pics are out of order...) I used the old trim pieces to get the sides to match the car perfect. I already did the work once, why do it again? Box was painted gloss black with a satin clear. I dont like it, i may do a textured black but I will see what it looks like when the front trim pieces are done. MrGrey13
Box is in and it sounds a lot better than the 18 and is probably louder in the 40hz range! I may have said this already but I plan on putting wood grain vinyl around the subs in the oval cutout. I still need to loom and clean up wires and build trim panels for the back and floor too but for now the factory interior is back in until I can get more money. Nightshade
This is the same thing I have heard about the Jetta's as well. I am doing a build right now in my MK6 GLI and it is a single X15 ran off a SCV2K. Sub is firing back and it is aeroported on the driver's side. Box tuned to 35hz and is right at 4.25cuft. I haven't gotten it playing yet but I have been checking this build out to get inspiration. Keep up the good work and maybe try firing back towards the rear. 2013 VW Jetta GLI 2.0 Turbo 1 Sundown Audio SCV2000 1 Sundown Audio X15 V2 1 XS Power D3100 Audio Control LC6i Stock Deck 146.4 sealed on the dash at 37hz 2001 Focus ZX3: RETIRED Team Sundown Audio, Team XS Power, 2 time NSPL Car 3601-Up Champion, 2 time NSPL Car Hardcore ChampionHighest NSPL Scores to date:154.3db on the dash sealed at 46hz, 156.2db in the kick at 46hz155.2db unofficial on dash at 43hz
