you can play a 40hz test tone and adjust your gain by ear, the pitch of the bass will change and the woofer will move differently when the amp begins to clip, it isn't very accurate like a dd-1 or a scope but it's better than just guessing.

the OP thinks because there is a dial that ranges from X to XX that 4v should be at some location and it simply does not work that way.... nobody can tell you where you should blindly set your gain.... the HU might even clip at 4v
