Yes, alum voice coils do fine, but who wants to settle? Copper just sounds better.

Considering DD seems to only use aluminum coils and they're known to constantly dominate competitions...

Where are you coming from on this?

i think he's basing it off of thermal conductivity.

and it's basically not even worth mentioning. Generally, copper conducts heat better, but aluminum dissipates heat better due to it's lower density...

but what do i know, only wired 500+ amp 480v for a year with 3/0, 500mcm, and 750mcm. All aluminum.

You can't hardly hear the difference between a true 1200 watts and 2000 watts, so I wouldn't let the difference in power handling sway you too much. You don't have to give a sub its full RMS rating (or more) to get decent performance either.

What competitions are they Constantly dominating?

That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.

You have a lot of choices in that range.

Fi BL, DC Audio Level 4, American Bass HD series, SSA XCON, Incriminator Audo Letal Injection series, Ascendant Audio Chaos series, and Ampere Audio 3.0 series are just a few. Just pick a brand and go with it.

Ok, sounding good and loud are two different things, Do you really think I care how loud a car gets if it sounds like mud?

My statement is nothing based on thermal qualities, copper has a much higher melting point this is true, but thermal conductance is not what I speak of young obi won, I am talking motor force, and decent moving mass, lower fs, giving an overall warmer sound, it takes more power to get an aluminum vc speaker to full output due to its poor inductance
