Seaydog Posted March 13, 2016 Report Posted March 13, 2016 I have a Pyle amp PLMRA 410BT 12 volt. > Will it fry it if I connect 16 volts to it ? Novice here!!
ShadeTreeMechanic Posted March 13, 2016 Report Posted March 13, 2016 One time I tried to bench test some stuff with a 24v power supply. The lowest I could turn it down was 18v. The Toshiba amp went into protect. The radio shack amp took it and played like a champ. Pyle also makes 24v amps for busses and trucks etc. There is only one way to find out. Let us know how it turns out. 91 C350 Centurion conversion ( Four Door One Ton Bronco) 250A Alternator (Second Alternator Coming Soon) G65 AGM Up Front / Two G31 AGM in Back Pioneer 80PRS CT Sounds AT125.2 / CT Sounds 6.5 Strato Pro component Front Stage CT Sounds AT125.2 / Lanzar Pro 8" coax w/compression horn tweeter Rear Fill FSD 5000D 1/2 ohm (SoundQubed 7k Coming Soon) Two HDS315 Four Qubes Each 34hz (Two HDC3.118 and New Box Coming Soon)

ShadeTreeMechanic Posted March 13, 2016 Report Posted March 13, 2016 How many batteries do you have? 16v sounds strange. Usually they use big 6v batteries in series. Maybe just hook the amp to as many batteries that would make 12v. 91 C350 Centurion conversion ( Four Door One Ton Bronco) 250A Alternator (Second Alternator Coming Soon) G65 AGM Up Front / Two G31 AGM in Back Pioneer 80PRS CT Sounds AT125.2 / CT Sounds 6.5 Strato Pro component Front Stage CT Sounds AT125.2 / Lanzar Pro 8" coax w/compression horn tweeter Rear Fill FSD 5000D 1/2 ohm (SoundQubed 7k Coming Soon) Two HDS315 Four Qubes Each 34hz (Two HDC3.118 and New Box Coming Soon)
SnowDrifter Posted March 13, 2016 Report Posted March 13, 2016 Voltage spec is 10.5 to 16v. Ron36 Posted March 13, 2016 Report Posted March 13, 2016 Good amps can handle 16volts but would drain that golf cart fast. 2022 Ford Maverick on 22’s Skar SK1500.1 on 4 Skar VD-8’s Mids Sundown Super tweeters, Skar TX 6.5 components on Skar SKM400.4 LC2 for audio control , XS Power D680 XS Series Extra Battery
MrSkippyJ Posted March 13, 2016 Report Posted March 13, 2016 So if an amp can't handle 16v it's not good? F150: Stock 2019 Harley Road Glide: Amp: TM400Xad - 4 channel 400 watt Processor: DSR1 Fairing (Front) 6.5s -MMats PA601cx Lid (Rear) 6x9s - TMS69
Esgedi Posted March 13, 2016 Report Posted March 13, 2016 So if an amp can't handle 16v it's not good? Correct. Someone tell jacob at sundown that his SCV's aren't worth the decal he sticks on them. Really though, either buy a buck converter or employ some canadian trickery to divide your voltage.
