RCA cables

Is it not a good idea to run RCA cables alongside a power cable? I know that you have a greater chance of picking up interference if you do, but I also read that was a myth and the noise interference comes from elsewhere and not the power cable. Also, is it okay to have the remote wire ran alongside the RCA cables?

It's not a myth. Just run the power down one side if the vehicle and the rca's down the other, it's not much extra work to do things the right way.

Okay I'm planning on running thicker wire anyway once I get my new amp. What about the remote wire being ran alongside the RCA cable?

It's not a dumb question. I have my RCAs down one side and my power on the other. However, once it gets near my amps it's all mixed up. I don't have any noticeable noise in my system so what exactly is the reasoning for running them I opposite sides?

always mixed answers. people swear both ways. to be safe i run mine separate but have no idea if it matters, I've never had issues with noise for having them so close. They are right next to each other going in to 99.9% of all amps so.....

I just like being error proof, yes, i drank the koolaid

It's a pretty easy test to conduct. Next time you're wiring a sub for some one just lay all the wires out before you run them and hook everything up, then lay em right next to each other. You'll here the noise when they get closer together.

I don't have any noise in my system though, and my RCAs and power wires are all over the place behind my box.
