I was a sundown nuthugger for a while and i sold my sundown stuff to venture out... My last setup was 2 x 10's.. Hit the lows so clean and so beautifully. I just grab a brand new 15" fi sp4 and on the same power (running stock for now) the fi does not hit the lows clean at all. It does hit the lows no problem but doesnt hit nearly as well as the sundowns. So, i kind of want to sell this for 2 12" sundown nsv3 (same amount of space as a 15" more cone area). Mind you i have a hatchback so i dont have a ton of room. Part of me thinks the FI sub will hit the lows very well if i give the 4" coil enough power. The other part of me thinks maybe sundown just hits the lows better. idk..... never heard a fi sub before.... So..... need opinions. If yall think the fi sub can hit the lows just as loud and as clean as a sundown nsv3 i will probably buy another fi 15" and build a wall and upgrade my power.... i plan on doing a big build on tax returns and i want the lowest of lows.... so i can either sell this sub for 2 12 nsv3's or try for a wall with 2 15" fi..... thanks in advance
06RTCharger Posted January 13, 2017 Report Posted January 13, 2017 3500 rms on that fi? What are u feeding it? If u got the power, maybe the box isnt matched to the sub and tuned for the lows u want. If ur gonna wall it, slap some 18's in that bish lol:
audiofanaticz Posted January 13, 2017 Report Posted January 13, 2017 If your sub is brand new, and never played before you it will take that time for that suspension to loosen up a decent bit, as it does it will play lower and louder. Their subs come super stiff so you just got to rail on them and get those spiders loosened up before giving up on the brand.

Wrong enclosure ? Bad tuning? Tell us more. The sp4 is a badass sub, it can play everything like a champ ! It should be way better than your 2 X10. black BMW X1 2.0 l 192 hp OEM head unit, Amplifiers : Audison AP 8.9 with integrated DSP and Ampere Audio 1200. Focal ES 100 K in front doors, and Dayton RS 180 for midbass under the front seats. 2 SSA DEMONS 10" subs, in a sealed box. SecondSkin Damplifier on front doors, and Luxury Liner Pro for the cargo area.
Tjwubs34 Posted January 13, 2017 Author Report Posted January 13, 2017 I made the box myself, at first i figured i just made the box wrong, i had a few box builders look over my specs and they didnt think my box was that bad. The sub is currently wired on a soundqubed 3500 at 2 ohms... my only other option is .5 ohms, so once i upgrade my power i will be able to do that, after rise maybe will see 1 ohm. Im just saying so far not impressed at all, the x 10's hit the lows like i couldnt believe and they were also stiff... i also built the box for those too :/

Knocker Posted January 13, 2017 Report Posted January 13, 2017 If you were running those X-10s on that Soundqubed 3500 at 1 ohm that would definitely have them performing since they're rated at around 1,250 apiece IIRC. If you're running your SP4 four inch coil driver with around 86 dB sensitivity at around half its rated power it might not knock your socks off like you want it to. What are your box specs?

True, but those x's are underrated too. Would it make sense that this 3500 cant push a 4" coil but it can push two 3 inch coils?? Seems like it would have harder time pushing 2 coils than 1... idk... like i said ive never heard a fi sub before so idk how loud or low they get. but those x's hit the lows like no tomorrow. The box i built is 18 inches high, 32 inches wide, 23 inches deep. Port is 4 inches wide, 31 inches long. First port peice is 19 inches, second port peice is 14. Its an L port. My box tuner program says its roughly 31 hz tuning, 4.25 cu feet, and 66 sq^2 inches of port..... seems like a great box... but the lows lack more than the highs
