Bo Mac Posted January 18, 2017 Report Posted January 18, 2017 I'm having a problem with power issues. I have a t1500.1 and it calls for 4awg power input and the spec sheet says it draws 200 amps but 4awg is rated at 150 amps and if I run it at 1ohm it turns the wire to jelly before the fuse block . Can I run 1/0 and if so will it melt my amp terminals very frustrating

Bo Mac Posted January 18, 2017 Author Report Posted January 18, 2017 Also if I run 1/0 power do I need to run the same for ground???? Really don't want to melt my terminals seen it happen a couple of times with these amps don't understand the small input
Ron36 Posted January 18, 2017 Report Posted January 18, 2017 Sounds like u need a new amp ,I'd try the reducer and it shouldn't cook the amp it's just getting good power and I would always run the biggest ground u can 2022 Ford Maverick on 22’s Skar SK1500.1 on 4 Skar VD-8’s Mids Sundown Super tweeters, Skar TX 6.5 components on Skar SKM400.4 LC2 for audio control , XS Power D680 XS Series Extra Battery

Always have your ground the same size as your power or bigger if you want. Never. Enough. Ground. 2008 VW Jetta Team Fi 12 CT 4000.1 CT 125.4 PWX 6.5 80 PRS EB Flex 2/0 Second Skin ^^^ Build ^^^
bcbrassard Posted January 18, 2017 Report Posted January 18, 2017 Reducers worked well for my set up on the T1500. Difference between 0 & 4 awg.
MrSkippyJ Posted January 18, 2017 Report Posted January 18, 2017 How long is your power wire? I ran 4g to mine t1500 for a long time without any issues. Sounds like something else is going on. RF isn't stupid when it comes to amps, 4g is fine for that amp unless your run is really long. In that case I would just run 0g to a fuse distro then run 4g to the amp from that (which is what I currently do). Sounds like it is a connection issue rather than a wire issue.
