Sequoia_Bass
I currently use my iphone as my "music source" in my car. I run a 3.5mm to RCA Adapter. Sending a single pair of RCA's to my Rockford R150x2. Then i run RCAs from the Rockfords RCA outputs to my sub amps using Piggyback RCAs. My question is, Would there be any benifit buying a headunit and using that as my "Music source"? More clear sound? I would still plug my phone into headunit and play from my phone. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Wasteland_Audio
Please for the love of all things holy, get a head unit. A headphone jack puts out almost no voltage when hooked directly to rca. Getting a head unit will give the amps a proper amount of signal voltage and give you the required adjustment for everything. Plus you will have a dedicated subwoofer output that will clean the signal up tremendously. Also you will get an even better signal if you get an iPod ready deck and hook it up with a usb instead of 3.5mm.
06RTCharger
maybe if you used a headunit with usb input, and use the usb port on ur phone to tranfer the music. I think bluetooth could possibly be a better signal than 3.5jack. Theres so many variables tho, it would be best to try it out for urself, hopefully u can try something out before u purchase it. Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener. I've always found that a higher voltage (between 2 and 4 volts) produced a cleaner signal than say a .2 volt signal with the gain cranked on the amp to match it. That's just my experience tho, it may just be that you can set your eq much more accurately on a deck than you can an ipod.
