SesameCreeps
Can someone please explain to me why amps recommend fuses that are smaller than what they draw. Like a 3000-3500 watt amp will recommend a 300 or 350 amp fuse but that amp pulls almost 400 amps. How doesnt the fuse blow all the time?
Scotnemily
A 300 Amp fuse wont typically blow instantly at 300 amps. If it does chances are it is faulty. It takes some time at 300 or more amps to pop the fuse. (using your numbers.) like wise that 3500 watt amp is not drawing a constant 400 amps. If it were and you had it on a 300 or 350 amp fuse it would pop after some time has passed. Someone else might Chime in with more detailed info, but hopefully this helps

Kyblack76
The high fuse rating, is best case. Burp, at lowest impedance/ohm load, and such. Even wired at 1ohm, your not pulling full current on music. Your probably pulling about half of that.
