Jonathan91v8
So i have two sa12 rev3 with a taramps smart 3k and i cant seem to get over 95 dbs in this box set up. Are 4th order boxes not meant for high dbs? https://www.caraudio.com/threads/final-thoughts-on-4th-order-blow-through.572337/
CstrokerV
What are you measuring it with but bandpasses do get loud if made right but something wrong cause you should be higher the. 95db .... port area seems to small 9x8 if I seen it right? my build http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/142505-small-build-log-4-dc-lvl3-10s-tl-update-link-to-rebuild/ http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/154258-rebuild-6-lvl3-12s-update-small-video-nothing-spectacular/ new build http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/188181-03-trailblazer-slow-build-8-dc-lvl3-12-m1-motor-m2-parts/
1point21gigawatts
Not enough port area. On 4th order enclosures if you want decent output you need to apply AT LEAST 16 square inches of port area per cubic foot of ported section (not entire enclosure). For optimal output, about 20 square inches of port area or more per cubic foot of ported section (not entire enclosure). You are restricting air flow, thus restricting output. After displacements on the ported section, how many cubic feet is it? “How can we help you?” “And don’t forget to tell them that the customer isn’t always right.”
AaronT
Whatever your measuring with is broken. Ambient noise in a busy city is 95+

Ambient noise in a busy city is 95+ That’s what I was thinking too. But from guesstimating the net volume with the measurements he posted on that link, he needs way more port area and I wasn’t gonna say shit about that device being faulty because I want him to build a better enclosure lol! “How can we help you?” “And don’t forget to tell them that the customer isn’t always right.”
Jonathan91v8
Ahh ok. Im using a amazon db meter lol. What ill be adding one more sa12 so ill just wait. It'll be 7.5 on ported and 3 sealed cuft after displacement so between 120 to 150 sqinch for three?
markcrnll
Those amazon meters top out at 130 dB. Even stock electrical will get you over the 140dB mark. I would get your hands on an SPL meter that reads above 130dB first, then look into those box specs, port area to be specific and modify if possible. Backwoods
Check out the mini SPL LAB or the SSA meters. Pretty Accurate meters and a variety of options. Some have their own screen, some connect to your phone via Bluetooth... But they are $200+ and quickly go up. Jonathan91v8
What dbs can i expect from 3 sa12 with a taramps 3k with 150 sqinch port area and 7.5 cuft in ported section?
Backwoods
Way too many variables. 3 dual 2 ohm subs wired at 1.33... or 3 dual 4s wired to .67 ? What vehicle, box and port placement any sound deadening, electrical upgrades, enclosure tuning, enclosure quality... Even with all these answers we could only guess. And I'd prolly guess 145 depending on all the answers. If high numbers were my goal i would use a regular ported enclosure or a wall.
