3 DB is not TWICE as loud, it just requires TWICE the power/SD/or displacement (sd X xmax)

10DB is twice as loud.

i was under the impression that SPL was exponential. meaning doubling sd/xmax/power can say bump you from 80db to 110db but doubling sd/xmax/power at 150db may only push you to 152. so in his case +3db may sound twice as loud.

I still find opposing or contradictory info about this issue...I really am still looking for a definitive answer myself but I was to understand that yes it is exponential in a way but the dB scale was a log scale...

A very valid point...lead acid batts inside/under stress/abuse= no bueno.

I would @ least enclose them 100% and make sure they can VENT (gaseous sulphur acid vapor) OUTside the trunk...on BMW's and VW's they use Groups 42, 47, and 49series batts and they have a vent tube leading out under the car for this reason. Acid vapor= teh suck.
