ah just fyi i was referring to installment (not that you were referring to me). tho i've seen people not know what they are talking about when it comes to the things they own/sell. someone had one amp on two subs, and one sub was working and he said it was because he blew a fuse? i didnt know we fused the wire from the amp to the subs

Ok look at the guys at BB and Cc there mostly high school kids just learning themselfs they don't know there is a bigger audio world past jl audio the same with a lot of other shops notice the ones that know about subs like this deal with almost all high end stuff there's gotta be someone for the cheap stuff for the people that would be happy with 2 sealed 12,s in the trunk not every one wants king Kong jumpin out there car BB and Cc is there for that

Now I could walk into almost any audio shop around here and make them look stupid but for what??? Better to try and open there eyes to a huge underground market a lot will not hear you and that's fine they will never get that deep into anyways

And don't expect them to know brands that are not in a magazine they buy what sells fast not something they have to push

Next time you go to a shop look around at what they carry then you will have an idea at the kind of people they are trying to sell to be it audio nuts like us or the avarge guy that wants a lil beat

Ah, but the installation guys are a different story. In my post I was mainly referring to the guys on the floor. That's what I was basing all of my examples and such from.

The thing about installation guys are they either do know their stuff, or they think they know their stuff. Again most of their opinions are based on what they install from the store but even still you shouldn't be surprised when their opinions are based on just what their store sells is what I'm saying with them.

Again, the guys on the sales floor is who I was mainly making an example of. They are just there to help you say which HU's are more functional than the others, which speakers can handle more and such. They basically just read the labels to people who are too dumb to read them for themselves. So you cant rag on them for coming over to help you when it's not their department, they are probably just expecting you to have THAT type of question. Most stores don't really have a rule as to "you work in DVD's, don't go near car audio".

My rant was just on how everyone always only goes the the sales floor guys and rags them. The install guys who are supposed to be pros are on their own topic, but even with them you cant be surprised when they are idiots on the subject as well. When it all comes down to it, professional can just mean that "you get paid to do something". You gotta realize, most of those guys just started out on the sales floor and moved into installs learning from the previous guys so their opinions of whats good and whats not can be off as well. Like I say, you cant expect them to be as professional as they should be, they just know how to put their products in a vehicle and make it work and the store pays them to do that. Whether or not they have an ego or arrogance about them is a different subject than what I'm getting at. If you run into a guy that trashes your high quality underground equipment and they say they are the king of car stereo then YES educate the dumbass, but if it's just making calls to walmart asking the guy at car audio if he likes Fi subs then you're just trying to get self gratification for yourself.

Another thing about working in stores you realize is that, sometimes you're not going to get the expert of that department that day. The other employee may tell you that they're going to get someone who knows better, that just means they are getting someone that knows more than them, not their expert of the store. As a employee I would always tell people if I was out of my area of expertise or not, but still try and help them as much as I could. But when you go in and forget that while you're just looking to test the person working, people just jump to conclusions and it just doesn't make sense to trash on stupid people.

If they're already stupid then its no point in trying to make them feel stupid for your own gratification, (if they're stupid, they wont realize you're making fun of them) is what Im getting at.

Now, if they're stupid and arrogant and biased on their crap, and rag your equipment then I say YES, make that dumbass look stupid and make sure they know you're doing it.

Thats like walking into your local water sports shop or surf shop and asking if they carry ATI or Cartel or other internet based products and they look at you like WTF so you walk out thinking they know nothing about bodyboarding. What the hell do you expect. G-monk pretty much summed up what i was going to say. Your so fucking ignorant if you think they know nothing. When people go into their averane surf shop looking for a bodyboard they look more mainstream Manta or Morey or BZ and those sorts of things. Even with longboards. I know plenty of longboard shapers that do better work than work ive seen in stors but if they havrnt heard of it I wont walk out thinking they dont know shit. They dont make money off companies like FI or T3. If your average customer walks in with 5k do you think they will walk straight toward a 5k system concisting of FI or JL Audio w7's? And to purposly go into Audio Shops and ask them ridiculous qustions about FI or T3 or AA and laugh at them to show how much more knowedge you have because they never heard of them is just flat out stupid.

this topic took a turn for the worst....

when i even mention that im getting RE 15s people always ask me why i dont spend my money on "quality" shit like kickers, Alpine or sony (i LOL whenever they mention sony) and then we get to talking about specs and they realize i know a hell of a lot more than they do about car audio. and usually they shut up and listen and may learn a thing or two. but marketing and advertising is a huge part of sales. take drinks for example. why does everyone drink mountain dew, when Mountain Chill tastes EXACTLY the same? Advertising.... if we all were to tell people about how great Fi and RE and be salesmen for those companies, RE and Fi would start making tons of money, but we dont do that... we look down upon mainstream alpine, pioneer, when they are perfectly good brands. Just being on this forum and all the negative comments about those brands have me questioning whether RE is that much better Polk... ill be able to tell for myself in about a week or two... and im confident that you know more than the BB genius that told me as long as i have the right amount of power i can hook up as many speakers as i want to an amp......

before i saw steve meades videos, i had no idea what fi audio was let alone how good the subs were. that and a few other spl subwoofer brands.
